Description
THE NEW YORK CITY HIGH LINE
One of the most unique places I've visited is the High Line in New York City. The High Line is an elevated park which runs for almost a mile and a half from the meatpacking district, through Chelsea, and ends at the West Side trainyards. The High Line was built on an unused section of the New York Railroad which was completely refurbished and is now a shining example of contemporary architecture and landscaping. Walking through the High Line underneath the high rise condos, many of which you can look right into since most didn't have blinds or curtains drawn, was like walking through a vision of what life might be like in the future. Due to the success of the High Line in Manhattan many other cities are looking to the High Line for inspiration to renovate and refurbish obsolete and neglected areas and turn them into public parks.
