HARVEST OF THE MOON
A beautiful Harvest Moon rises over a bank of trees in the Florida Everglades. Ironically, I was out to photograph the sunset on this evening and I had no plans to take any pcitures of the moon. I had plenty of moon shots already, some even from this exact location, so I didn't really think about it. I photographed the last of the evening glow of sunset and then turned around to see this big and beautiful moon emerging from the clouds and beginning to light up the skies over the trees. You never saw a guy move so fast. I had to change my lens, reset my tripod, and change my camera settings all the while fumbling and panicking that I would miss this amazing moonrise. I learned to never underestimate the beauty of nature and even though the location may be the same, no two moonrises or sunsets are ever the same.
My name is Mark Andrew Thomas and I'm a photographer and filmmaker currently residing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I grew up in Florida right next to the Everglades and although I photograph a wide variety of subjects and locations, the Florida Everglades will always be my first love.
