Description
FORT LAUDERDALE BEACH
Coconut palm trees soak up the first rays of a beautiful and brilliant sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean as another day begins on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Fort Lauderdale Beach is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations and is also home to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. This annual event attracts tens of thousands of people every year as does the annual Tortuga Music Festival.
However, you can't mention Fort Lauderdale Beach without thinking of that great all American annual tradition and rite of passage, Spring Break. Every year college students from all over the world flock to Fort Lauderdale Beach by the thousands, a tradition that may have started with the classic 1960 film "Where the Boys Are" which was filmed right on the beach. The Elbo Room bar was featured prominently in the film and is still open to this day making it a South Florida landmark and a must visit place for many spring breakers.
