The Milky Way in all it's splendor photographed at Everglades National Park. To capture the full arc of the Milky Way required seven vertical images stitched together to form this panorama. The Milky Way can be seen with the naked eye if you get far enough away from city lights and it will appear as a faint band of clouds across the sky. As your eyes get adjusted to the darkness it will gradually appear brighter but not as bright as most of the Milky Way shots you see. The reason for this is that the camera sensor can collect much more light than the human eye when the shutter is left open for longer periods. In this case a 20 second exposure was used.
