Description
GEICO SKYTYPERS SQUADRON
Airplanes from the GEICO skytypers perform maneuvers during the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Air Show at Fort Lauderdale Beach. The GEICO skytypers are a squadron of six SNJ-2 airplanes. The SNJ-2 is a WWII era vintage aircraft which was used by the United States Navy.
The sky typing that the GEICO aircraft create is much faster than skywriting and produces a letter every four seconds in a dot-matrix pattern. The messages can be as tall as the Empire State Building and can extend up to 8 miles in length. They are visible for miles in any direction. When the GEICO skytypers aren't performing at air shows across the country, they can be seen at events around the team's home base at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY.
