Description
EMPIRE STATE
Without a doubt the most famous skyscraper in New York, probably the world and one of the most photographed and filmed buildings is the Empire State Building. For 40 years it was the tallest building in the world with it's massive structure reaching up to a height of 1,250 feet and boasting 102 stories.
The Empire State building was officially opened on May 1, 1931 which is quite an accomplishment since construction of the building had only begun 410 days earlier. Since the building was opened during the Great Depression, many offices remained vacant and it wasn't until almost 20 years later that the building starting turning a profit.
Throughout the years the Empire State Building has been filmed countless times for movies and television shows with the most famous example of that being the 1933 classic film "King Kong" starring Fay Wray. You can't think of the Empire State Building and not think of King Kong.
