Mission Statement:

"My goal as an artist and photographer is to create photographs that stir something deep within the soul. To reawaken that part of ourselves that still believes in magic and longs to explore lands both real and imagined."

My name is Mark Andrew Thomas and I currently reside in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I grew up in Florida right next to the Everglades and was introduced to the wonders of nature at a very early age.

I work as both a photographer and filmmaker and have been lucky enough to have my work featured on Science Channel, Animal Planet, and National Geographic. I'm currently hard at work filming and producing the wildlife documentary feature "Birth of a Predator" for release in 2017.

Working in the film world taught me how to tell a story. After all what is a movie but a sequence of still images? My intent is for every photograph to be like a mini-movie. I want them to make you stop and look. I want you to hear the wonderful stories they have to tell of the amazing planet we live on.

10% of my profits go to Dachshund Rescue South Florida (DRSF) a wonderful rescue group who works tirelessly to help dachshunds and other dogs in need. I have 3 crazy wiener dogs from DRSF and I couldn't imagine life without them.

Bio:

My name is Mark Andrew Thomas and I'm a wildlife and landscape photographer currently residing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I grew up in Florida right next to the Florida Everglades so it seems a natural evolution for me to become a nature photographer and document the world I've appreciated and loved my entire life.

I started as a filmmaker (which I still am) and have had my work featured on Science Channel (“Alien Encounters”), Animal Planet (“Swamplands, USA”), and National Geographic's 'Florida Untamed: Gator Country'. I'm also directing, filming, and producing the upcoming documentary film "Birth Of A Predator" which is currently filming in locations around Florida and Louisiana with an expected release in Spring of 2015 which I'm very excited about. This filmmaking path led to photography which quickly became my passion in life. It's something that I always try to find time to do. So have a look around, enjoy my galleries and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Charitable Prints:

Dachshund Rescue South Florida is a charity very close to my heart. Three of my dachshunds were adopted from this great organization and 10% of my proceeds from sales on Fine Art America will go directly to them. If you purchase the "Rue's Rainbow" or "Home Is Where Your Dachshund Is" prints in the Charitable Prints gallery, 100% of my profits from those sales will be donated to DRSF. Whether or not you purchase one of my prints please consider donating to your local dog rescue, if you can't give money then give of your time...every little bit helps!
