Description
GEICO SKYTYPERS
Airplanes from the GEICO skytypers perform during the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Air Show at Fort Lauderdale Beach. The GEICO skytypers are a squadron of six SNJ-2 airplanes. The SNJ-2 is a WWII era vintage aircraft which was used by the United States Navy.
The sky typing that the GEICO aircraft create is 17 times faster than skywriting and produces a letter every 4 seconds in a dot-matrix pattern. The messages can be as high as the Empire State Building and can be 8 miles in length. They are visible up to 15 miles. When the GEICO skytypers aren't performing at air shows across the country, they can be seen at events around the Northeast near the team's home base at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY.
